BERGAMO, Italy (March 22, 2026) (Interstat) — Atalanta began its Serie A campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over visiting Verona on Sunday at New Balance Arena.

Defender Davide Zappacosta scored the game’s lone goal in the 37th minute, securing three points for the home side. The assist was credited to Isak Hien. The match was a physical affair, with four yellow cards issued, all to Atalanta players, including substitutes Andrias Edmundsson, Nicolás Valentini and Roberto Gagliardini.

The result gave Atalanta a winning start to the domestic season, while Verona opened with a defeat. The outcome defied a pre-match projection from Interstat that forecast a 1-1 draw, though their system heavily favored Atalanta to win.
