Juventus, Sassuolo Draw in Serie A Opener

TORINO, Italy (Interstat) — Juventus and Sassuolo played to a 1-1 draw in their Serie A opener Saturday at Allianz Stadium, a result that defied heavy pregame odds favoring the hosts.

Juventus midfielder Kenan Yıldız opened the scoring in the 14th minute, assisted by defender Bremer. Sassuolo substitute Andrea Pinamonti leveled the match in the 52nd minute, set up by fellow substitute Ulisses Garcia.

The draw leaves both clubs with identical records to start the Serie A campaign and across all competitions. The outcome was a surprise, as statistical models heavily favored Juventus, projecting a 96.7% probability of a home victory and a 2-1 final score.

Bremer, Garcia and Sassuolo’s Luca Lipani received yellow cards in the second half. The match was the season opener for both Italian clubs.
