CHLEF, Algeria (Interstat) — ASO Chlef defeated ES Setif 1-0 on Friday in an Algerian Ligue 1 match at Stade Mohamed Boumezrag.

The lone goal came in the 77th minute from forward Bruno Avotor, breaking a deadlock in a contest that saw five yellow cards issued. Avotor’s finish was assisted by substitute Zakaria Saidi. The result defied a pre-match projection from Interstat, whose simulator had forecast a 1-1 draw, though its ELO system gave Chlef a 62.4% win probability.

With the victory, ASO Chlef begins its league campaign with a win, while ES Setif starts with a loss. Both clubs see their overall season records mirror their results from this opening fixture.
