AARAU, Switzerland (Interstat) — Etoile Carouge delivered a stunning upset Tuesday, defeating Challenge League leader Aarau 3-1 at Stadion Brügglifeld behind a dominant performance from substitute Itaitinga.

The visitors, who entered with just eight wins this season, overturned a one-goal deficit after Aarau’s Oscar Correia scored in the 23rd minute. Itaitinga entered the match and changed its course, assisting Daniel Afriyie’s 77th-minute equalizer before scoring twice himself to secure the victory. Aarau, which had lost only six times all season, saw its defense unravel late in a physical match that featured 12 yellow cards.

The result defied pregame projections, as statistical models heavily favored a home win.
