DAMMAM, Saudi Arabia (Interstat) — Al Qadisiyah Saudi Club and Al Shabab opened their Saudi Pro League seasons with a 2-2 draw Tuesday at Prince Mohammed bin Fahad bin Abdulaziz Stadium.

Al Shabab’s Christopher Bonsu-Baah opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Al Qadisiyah substitute Ali Azaizeh then scored twice, in the 35th and 54th minutes, to give the hosts a lead. Al Shabab’s Mateo Retegui equalized in the 75th minute.

The match saw a late red card shown to Al Shabab’s Wesley Hoedt in the 76th minute. The result defied a pre-match projection that favored Al Qadisiyah. Both clubs begin the campaign with a draw in league play.
