Cheltenham Town Edges Gillingham on Late Goal
CHELTENHAM, England (Interstat) — Mo Faal scored in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time to lift Cheltenham Town to a 2-1 victory over Gillingham in a League Two match Tuesday at EV Charger Points Stadium.
Ronan Hale gave the hosts an early lead in the 18th minute. Gillingham’s Isaac Hutchinson equalized in the 63rd. Faal, who assisted on Hale’s opener, then secured the win with his dramatic late strike. He also received a yellow card in the 74th minute.
The result defied a pregame projection that heavily favored Cheltenham. Gillingham has won just once in its last nine matches across all competitions.
