CAIRO (Interstat) — Second-half substitutes Mahmoud Zalaka and Mostafa Fathy scored Tuesday to lead Pyramids FC to a 2-0 victory over Petrojet in an Egypt Cup match at Petrosport Stadium.

Zalaka broke a scoreless tie in the 28th minute, finishing an assist from Odeh Fakhoury. Pyramids sealed the win in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time when Fathy found the net, again assisted by Fakhoury. The victory defied a pre-match projection that favored a draw.

The match featured six yellow cards, including one for Pyramids coach Krunoslav Jurčić in the 90th minute. Petrojet, the home side, was held scoreless. With the result, Pyramids began its cup campaign with a win while Petrojet opened with a loss.
