TA’QALI, Malta (Interstat) — Malta U19 defeated Kazakhstan U19 1-0 on Wednesday in a UEFA Under-19 Championship qualification match at MFA Centenary Stadium.

Substitute Ema Micallef scored the decisive goal in the 62nd minute to secure the victory for the visiting side. The assist came from fellow substitute Suzanne Farrugia Sacco. Kazakhstan defender Anelya Meimanbay, who recorded an assist for Malta’s own goal in the teams’ previous meeting, received a yellow card in the sixth minute.

The result improved Malta’s qualification record to two wins and three losses, while Kazakhstan remained winless through five matches. The outcome defied pre-match projections that heavily favored a Kazakh victory.
