MENSDORF, Luxembourg (Interstat) — Belarus U19 earned a 2-0 victory over Luxembourg U19 in a UEFA U19 Championship qualification match Thursday at Stade op Biirk. The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored the hosts.

Belarus struck early when substitute Vieranika Kaluta scored in the seventh minute. Another substitute, Valeryja Vasiluk, doubled the lead in the 33rd minute. Defenders Lana Thill and Silvia Conte provided assists for Belarus.

The match was a physical affair, with four yellow cards issued, all to Luxembourg players. The loss halts momentum for Luxembourg, which was coming off a 5-0 win. Belarus improves its qualification record with the road clean sheet.
