TA’QALI, Malta (Interstat) — Bulgaria U19 earned its first victory in UEFA U19 Championship qualifying with a 6-0 rout of Malta U19 on Sunday at MFA Centenary Stadium.

Mirela Petrova and Katerina Ravnachka each scored twice to lead the attack. Monika Baliova added a goal, while defender Gergana Halyanova also found the net. Malta’s Suzanne Farrugia Sacco received a yellow card in the 85th minute.

The result defied a pregame projection that favored a 1-1 draw. Both teams now hold identical 1-3 records in the qualification group. Bulgaria next plays at Israel U19 on Wednesday, while Malta travels to face Kazakhstan U19.
