Dragon vs Taiarapu
Dragon Looks to Extend Dominance Over Struggling Taiarapu in Tahiti Ligue 1 Clash
PAPEETE, Tahiti (Interstat) — A lopsided rivalry will be renewed Saturday when Dragon hosts Taiarapu in a Tahiti Ligue 1 football match at Stade Pater.
The matchup, set for Feb. 21, 2026, pits a title-contending Dragon side against a Taiarapu team mired in a deep defensive crisis. The statistical projections foresee a rout, with Interstat’s game simulator predicting a 4-1 victory for Dragon and its ELO rating system giving the home side a 96.90% probability to win.
The recent history heavily favors Dragon. In the teams’ last meeting on Oct. 18, 2025, Dragon delivered a 6-2 demolition of Taiarapu at home. Dragon (6-3-2) enters in stronger form, coming off a 4-0 victory over AS Pueu on Feb. 7 and a key 3-2 road win at Central on Jan. 31. Their attack has been explosive, highlighted by a 12-1 thrashing of Jeunes Tahitiens in November.
In contrast, Taiarapu (2-2-7) is reeling from a 5-1 home loss to Central on Feb. 7, its fourth consecutive defeat. The team has conceded 19 goals during this skid, including the 5-1 loss to Central and a 5-0 defeat to AS Mira in December. Their defense has been consistently vulnerable, allowing four or more goals in five of their eleven matches this season.
Dragon’s path hasn’t been flawless, with recent losses to Venus and AS Mira, but its offensive firepower at home has been a constant. Taiarapu’s lone bright spot remains a 2-1 victory over AS Pirae in September, but that result feels distant amid its current collapse.
Saturday’s game will likely hinge on whether Taiarapu can find any defensive resolve to contain a Dragon squad that previously hung six on them. With Dragon fighting near the top of the table and Taiarapu desperate to stop the bleeding, the stage is set for what forecasters believe will be a one-sided affair in Papeete.
