PALMA DE MALLORCA, Spain (Interstat) — Carlos Soler’s 36th-minute goal was the difference as Real Sociedad earned a 1-0 victory over Mallorca in a La Liga match Saturday at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.

The decisive play was created by substitute Jon Gorrotxategi, who provided the assist shortly after entering the match. Real Sociedad’s defense made the lone goal stand, securing three points despite yellow cards shown to Jon Aramburu in the 67th minute and Gorrotxategi in the 82nd.

The result improved Real Sociedad’s league record to nine wins, 10 losses and seven draws. Mallorca, which was held scoreless at home, fell to seven wins, 14 losses and eight draws. The visitors completed a season sweep after also winning the earlier fixture 1-0 in September.
