NICE, France (Interstat) — Stade Rennais FC 1901 delivered a commanding performance Sunday, defeating Nice 4-0 at Allianz Riviera in a Ligue 1 match that defied pregame projections.

Interstat’s metrics heavily favored the home side, giving Nice a 77% probability to win and projecting a 1-1 draw. Rennes emphatically overturned those forecasts. Substitute Esteban Lepaul opened the scoring in the 13th minute, followed by a goal from fellow substitute Sebastian Szymański in the 20th.

Defender Dante registered an assist before receiving a yellow card in the 37th minute. The comprehensive victory gives Rennes a winning start to its league campaign, while Nice begins with a defeat.
