BILBAO, Spain (Interstat) — Real Sociedad defeated AC Bilbao Women 1-0 on Wednesday in a Copa del Rey match at San Mamés, overcoming heavy odds to advance.

The decisive play came in the 62nd minute from substitute Beñat Turrientes, who scored the game’s only goal. The assist came from fellow substitute Mikel Oyarzabal, who entered the match alongside Gonçalo Guedes and Álvaro Odriozola. All three substitutes recorded an assist on the play, with midfielder Ruiz de Galarreta also credited with an assist.

The result defied a pregame projection that gave the home side a 90.6% probability to win. The match was physical, featuring five yellow cards, including four to Real Sociedad players.

With the victory, Real Sociedad improves to 1-0 in the competition, while AC Bilbao Women falls to 0-1.
