Pyramids FC Opens CAF Champions League Campaign With Decisive Home Victory
CAIRO (Interstat) — Pyramids FC opened its CAF Champions League group stage with a commanding 3-1 victory over Power Dynamos FC on Saturday at 30 June Air Defence Stadium.
The Egyptian side seized control early with two goals in three minutes. Mostafa Zico opened the scoring with a header in the 17th minute, but Power Dynamos’ Moses Shumah equalized just two minutes later. Pyramids regained the lead before halftime through Youssef Obama in the 33rd minute. Midfielder Ewerton da Silva sealed the win with a 59th-minute strike.
The result defied a pregame projection that favored a narrower Pyramids win. Power Dynamos’ Chifundo Mphasi and Pyramids’ Hamed Hamdan received late yellow cards. Pyramids begins the competition with a win, while Power Dynamos starts with a loss.
