Palermo Steals Road Win Over Padova With Stoppage-Time Strike

PADOVA, Italy (Interstat) — Mattia Bani scored in second-half stoppage time to give Palermo a 1-0 victory over Padova in a Serie B match Saturday at Stadio Comunale Euganeo.

The match turned in the 25th minute when Padova’s Ruí Modesto was shown a red card, forcing the home side to play a man down for most of the contest. Despite the disadvantage, Padova held firm until the final moments.

The decisive goal came in the 92nd minute. Substitute Pietro Ceccaroni, who had entered the match in the second half, provided the assist for Bani’s winner. The result defied pre-match projections that heavily favored Padova.

Palermo begins its league campaign with a win, while Padova starts with a loss. Both teams’ records across all competitions mirror their Serie B results.
