GRENOBLE, France (Interstat) — Grenoble Foot 38 and Clermont opened their Ligue 2 campaigns with a 2-2 draw Friday at Stade des Alpes. The result defied pregame projections that favored Clermont.

Clermont’s Yadaly Diaby opened the scoring in the ninth minute, but Grenoble substitute Allan Ackra leveled in the 26th. Joshua M’Bahia, another substitute, put Clermont ahead again in the 67th minute. Grenoble midfielder Jessy Benet secured the final equalizer late in the match.

The game featured eight yellow cards, including four in a contentious second-half span. Both teams remain unbeaten with identical records after the first matchday.
