FC Annecy vs Guingamp
Preview: FC Annecy Hosts Guingamp in Ligue 2 Clash
ANNECY, France (Interstat) — FC Annecy will look to replicate its dominant December performance against Guingamp when the sides meet again in a French Ligue 2 match on Friday.
The match at Parc des Sports d’Annecy pits a home team seeking consistency against a visiting side mired in a prolonged winless streak.
Annecy (8-7-10) delivered its most complete performance of the season in the last head-to-head meeting, a commanding 3-0 victory at Guingamp on Dec. 5. However, form has been uneven since. Annecy is coming off a heavy 4-0 defeat to Saint-Etienne II on March 21 and a 3-0 loss to Le Mans on March 7, though it secured a 2-0 win at Bastia in late February.
Guingamp (4-11-10) arrives desperate for a positive result, having failed to win in its last nine matches across all competitions. Its most recent outing was a 2-1 Coupe de France defeat to amateur side Saint-Pierre Milizac on March 28. The club’s last victory was a 3-1 win over Lannion FC on Feb. 7. In league play, Guingamp has drawn five of its last six, highlighting an inability to close out games.
The statistical service Interstat projects a 1-1 draw for Friday’s contest, a result that would extend Guingamp’s drawing habit but offer little help to either side’s mid-table ambitions.
Key for Annecy will be converting home advantage into three points as it navigates a challenging April schedule, with matches against Montpellier, Nancy and Pau to follow. Guingamp, meanwhile, hopes to find a spark before its own tough run against Grenoble Foot 38, Pau and Red Star.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. local time (1900 GMT) on April 3.
