NICOSIA, Cyprus (Interstat) — Peter Olayinka’s 81st-minute strike gave APOEL a 1-0 victory over crosstown rival AS Omonoia Leukosia in a Cypriot First Division match Sunday at Neo GSP Stadium.

The lone goal decided a tightly contested derby, defying a pregame projection from Interstat that had forecast a 1-1 draw. The data firm had given APOEL a 54.7% probability to win.

The result gives APOEL a winning start to its domestic league campaign, moving to 1-0-0. Omonoia begins its season 0-0-1 after the narrow away defeat. Both clubs’ records across all competitions mirror their league starts following this opening fixture.
