Substitutes Spark 2‑2 Draw Between Lorient, Auxerre
LORIENT, France (Interstat) — Substitutes fueled a frantic first-half shootout as Lorient and Auxerre played to a 2-2 draw in a Ligue 1 match Sunday at Stade Yves Allainmat.
The visitors struck first in the opening minute through substitute Marvin Senaya. Lorient’s Bamba Dieng equalized in the 19th, but Auxerre substitute Josué Casimir restored the lead five minutes later. Dieng netted his second goal in the 29th to force the final stalemate. Dieng also recorded an assist.
The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored Lorient. Both teams opened their league campaigns with a draw. The match featured four yellow cards, including one for Dieng.
