Kaizer Chiefs Edges ZESCO United in CAF Confederation Cup Match

DURBAN, South Africa (Interstat) — Kaizer Chiefs defeated ZESCO United 1-0 on Sunday in CAF Confederation Cup play at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Makabi Lilepo scored the game’s lone goal in the 14th minute, finishing an assist from midfielder Thulani Mabaso.

The home side’s goalkeeper, Brandon Petersen, preserved the clean sheet with a key save, contributing to the narrow victory. Both Mabaso and Petersen received yellow cards in the second half.

The result gave Kaizer Chiefs a group stage sweep of the Zambian side, having also won the reverse fixture 1-0 a week prior. It improved Kaizer Chiefs’ tournament record to two wins, three losses and two draws, while ZESCO United fell to one win, six losses and one draw in the competition.
