Substitutes Spark Telstar 1963 to KNVB Beker Comeback Win

VELSEN, Netherlands (Interstat) — Telstar 1963 rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Go Ahead Eagles 2-1 in a KNVB Beker women’s football match Thursday at 711 Stadion.

Go Ahead Eagles’ Soufiane Hetli opened the scoring in the 45th minute. The home side responded after the break, with substitute Alfons Sampsted equalizing in the 52nd minute off an assist from fellow substitute Julius Dirksen. Defender Jeff Hardeveld netted the 71st-minute winner, assisted by Guus Offerhaus.

Both Dirksen and Offerhaus received yellow cards in second-half stoppage time. The result defied a pregame projection that heavily favored Telstar 1963 by a wider margin. Telstar 1963 begins its cup campaign with a win, while Go Ahead Eagles starts with a loss.
