CAIRO (Interstat) — Substitute Sékou Sonko scored in the 17th minute to give Petrojet a 1-0 victory over ENPPI in an Egyptian League Cup match Wednesday at Petrosport Stadium.

The visiting Petrojet defied a pregame projection favoring ENPPI. Sonko finished a chance created by fellow substitute Mohamed Ali Okasha, who was later shown a yellow card in the 53rd minute. The lone goal held despite late pressure, including a stoppage-time booking for ENPPI’s Emad Mayhob.

The result gives Petrojet a winning start in the competition, while ENPPI begins with a loss. Both clubs mirrored the result in their overall season records.
