VOLENDAM, Netherlands (Interstat) — Tim Waterink came off the bench to score the decisive goal, leading De Treffers to a 1-0 victory over RKAV Volendam in a Tweede Divisie match Saturday at Hein Koning Voetbalstadion.

The visitors secured the win in the 18th minute when Waterink found the net. The goal defied pregame projections that heavily favored a higher-scoring draw. De Treffers’ defense held firm to preserve the clean sheet against the home side.

The match was a physical affair, featuring yellow cards for De Treffers’ Nick Runderkamp, Willem den Dekker, Steven van der Heijden and Tom Smit. With the result, De Treffers begins its league campaign with a win, while Volendam starts with a loss.
