AL-MUHARRAQ, Bahrain (Interstat) — Al Najma earned a 2-0 victory over Sitra in a Bahrain Premier League match Saturday at Sheikh Ali bin Mohammed Stadium.

Maicon Douglas opened the scoring in the 44th minute. Zachary Hadji added a second goal for the hosts in the 68th minute. The result improved Al Najma’s league record to five wins, five losses and two draws. Sitra’s league mark fell to four wins, five losses and four draws.

The teams had played to a scoreless draw in their previous meeting last September. The outcome contradicted a pregame statistical model that had favored the visiting side.
