FORLI, Italy (Interstat) — Visiting US Sambenedettese delivered a dominant 2-0 upset victory over FC Forli in a Serie C match Sunday at Stadio Tullo Morgagni.

Matteo Stoppa opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Alessandro Dalmazzi sealed the win just before halftime, scoring in the third minute of first-half stoppage time. The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored the hosts. Statistical models gave Forli a 70 percent probability to win and predicted a 1-1 draw.

The win gives Sambenedettese a winning start to its league campaign, while Forli begins its season with a home defeat. Both teams’ records across all competitions mirror their Serie C results after this opening fixture.
