GUASTATOYA, Guatemala (Interstat) — Víctor Armas scored in the 76th minute to lift Guastatoya to a 1-0 victory over Xelaju in a Liga Nacional match Saturday at Estadio David Cordón Hichos.

The decisive strike broke a stalemate in a contest where the visiting Xelaju, favored by statistical models pregame, failed to find an answer. The result handed Guastatoya a measure of revenge after dropping both previous meetings this season to Xelaju.

The win improves Guastatoya’s league record to eight wins, 15 losses and four draws. Xelaju falls to 12 wins, 13 losses and six draws in domestic competition. Guastatoya hosts Malacateco next on Feb. 14, while Xelaju returns to action Feb. 15 against Marquense.
