BRASÍLIA, Brazil (Interstat) — SC Corinthians Paulista delivered a massive upset Sunday, defeating Flamengo 2-0 to win the Supercopa do Brasil at Estádio Nacional de Brasília. The victory defied overwhelming pregame projections that heavily favored the home side.

Corinthians’ substitute Gabriel Paulista opened the scoring in the 26th minute, later assisting on Yuri Alberto’s stoppage-time goal in the 97th to seal the result. Flamengo’s hopes diminished when Jorge Carrascal received a red card just before halftime.
