TA’QALI, Malta (Interstat) — Damir Ceter scored in the 28th minute to give Hamrun Spartans a 1-0 victory over Sliema Wanderers in a Malta Premier League match Saturday at Ta’Qali National Stadium.

The lone goal secured three points for the home side, which improved its league record to 9-1-2 this season. Sliema Wanderers, held scoreless, fell to 5-4-2 in league play.

The result defied the pre-match projection from Interstat, which had simulated a 3-2 win for Hamrun Spartans and gave the club a 96% probability to win. The Spartans’ defense made Ceter’s early strike stand for the full 90 minutes.
