SANTA LUCÍA COTZUMALGUAPA, Guatemala (Interstat) — William Fajardo scored two first-half goals to propel Mictlan to a 2-1 upset of league-leading Municipal in a Liga Nacional match Thursday at Estadio Municipal Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa.

Fajardo opened the scoring in the 24th minute and added another in the 57th, stunning the home side. Municipal, which entered the match with a strong domestic record, pulled one back through José Carlos Martínez in the third minute of second-half stoppage time but could not complete the comeback.

The result marked a significant victory for Mictlan, which had lost both prior meetings against Municipal this season. The win improves Mictlan’s record in the competition, while Municipal drops a rare home match.
