ATHENS, Greece (Jan. 14, 2026) (Interstat) — Panathinaikos delivered a major upset Wednesday, defeating Aris 3-0 in a Greek Cup match at Olympiako Stadio Spyros Louis. The result defied overwhelming projections that favored the visitors.

Anastasios Bakasetas opened the scoring in the 16th minute for the hosts. Panathinaikos added two more goals to secure the commanding victory. Aris, which was given a 91% probability to win by Interstat’s ELO system, was shut out. The simulator had projected a 1-0 win for Aris.

With the win, Panathinaikos advances in the Cup competition while Aris searches for its first victory of the season across all competitions.
