GYŐR, Hungary (Interstat) — Debrecen and host ETO FC opened their NB I seasons with a 2-2 draw Saturday at ETO Park.

The match defied a pregame projection that heavily favored Debrecen. Substitute Soma Szuhodovszki opened the scoring for ETO FC in the 38th minute, but Debrecen’s Milán Vitális answered with two second-half goals, overturning the deficit by the 50th minute. ETO FC secured a share of the points when substitute György Komáromi netted the final equalizer.

The physical contest featured eight yellow cards. Both clubs move to 0-0-1 records in the Hungarian top flight.
