Ajax, Feyenoord Draw in Eredivisie Season Opener
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (Interstat) — Ajax and Feyenoord opened their Eredivisie campaigns with a 1-1 draw Sunday at Stadion Feijenoord. The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored an Ajax victory.
Substitute Sean Steur gave the home side the lead in the 54th minute, finishing an assist from Rayane Bounida. Ajax midfielder Jakub Moder leveled the match in the 73rd, converting a pass from Anis Hadj Moussa.
The tense derby featured four yellow cards in the second half. Interstat’s game simulator had projected a 2-1 win for Ajax, which was given an 86.1% probability to win by its ELO system. Both clubs now hold identical records across all competitions this season.
