ASCOLI PICENO, Italy (Interstat) — Simone D’Uffizi’s 61st-minute strike was the difference as Ascoli Calcio 1898 FC edged Ternana 1-0 in a Serie C match Friday at Stadio Cino e Lillo Del Duca.

The lone goal decided a tight contest, handing the home side a narrow victory. The result improved Ascoli’s league record to five wins, three losses and four draws this season. Ternana, which was shut out, fell to four wins, two losses and three draws in Serie C play.

The outcome defied a pregame statistical model that heavily favored the visitors. Ascoli secured three points with the win, continuing its mid-table campaign in Italy’s third division.
