ALKMAAR, Netherlands (Interstat) — AZ began its Eredivisie campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Heerenveen at AFAS Stadion on Sunday.

Midfielder Sven Mijnans scored twice in a stunning opening minute, finding the net in the seventh and eighth minutes. Forward Troy Parrott added a third goal in the 71st minute to seal the win. Substitute Oliver Braude and forward Mees De Wit each recorded an assist.

The result defied the pre-match projection from Interstat, which gave AZ a 75.8% chance to win but forecast a 2-1 scoreline. Heerenveen, which received no yellow cards, opens its season with a loss in league play.
