DEVENTER, Netherlands (Interstat) — Go Ahead Eagles opened their Eredivisie campaign with a stunning 5-0 demolition of PEC Zwolle on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at De Adelaarshorst. The home side defied pre-match projections, scoring three times in the opening 15 minutes to secure a dominant victory.

Stefán Ingi Sigurðarson opened the scoring in the fourth minute, followed quickly by Søren Tengstedt in the seventh. Victor Edvardsen added a third in the 15th. Defender Aske Adelgaard scored in the 56th before Mathis Suray completed the rout in the 63rd. Substitute Koen Kostons received the match’s only yellow card.

The result sharply contrasted with pre-game analytics, as Interstat’s simulator had projected a 1-1 draw and gave PEC Zwolle a 60.1% probability to win.
