Heracles vs PSV
ALMELO, Netherlands (Interstat) — PSV Eindhoven reaffirmed its dominance in the Eredivisie with a clinical 3-1 victory over Heracles Almelo on Saturday at Erve Asito.
The match, played on Feb. 28, 2026, saw the visiting side from Eindhoven control proceedings for large stretches, leveraging its quality to secure three points and continue its pursuit at the top of the league table. The result was largely in line with pre-match projections, as statistical models heavily favored PSV.
PSV established an early lead and never relinquished it. The opening goal came in the 12th minute from substitute Ismael Saibari, who made an immediate impact after entering the fray. Saibari’s early strike set the tone, dampening the home crowd and forcing Heracles to chase the game.
The advantage was doubled before halftime. In the 40th minute, Dennis Man found the net to give PSV a commanding 2-0 lead at the break, reflecting the gap in league position between the two clubs.
Heracles, struggling near the bottom of the standings, showed resilience in the second half. The home side managed to pull a goal back in the 80th minute through Lequincio Zeefuik, offering a brief moment of hope for the supporters in Almelo. The assist on the goal was credited to forward Mimeirhel Benita.
Any momentum for a late comeback was swiftly extinguished, however. Just two minutes after the Heracles goal, PSV restored its two-goal cushion. The 82nd-minute strike sealed the 3-1 victory, ensuring the points would return to Eindhoven.
The match featured a flurry of disciplinary actions in the second half. PSV’s Paul Wanner received a yellow card in the 62nd minute, followed immediately by a booking for Heracles’ Alèc Van Hoorenbeeck in the 63rd minute. Heracles’ Benita was also shown a yellow card in the 90th minute.
The victory improves PSV’s formidable Eredivisie record to 20 wins, three losses and two draws this season, maintaining its stronghold at the summit of the competition. Across all tournaments, PSV now stands at 23 wins, eight losses and four draws.
For Heracles, the defeat is another setback in a difficult campaign. The club’s league record fell to five wins, 17 losses and one draw. Its overall record across all competitions is now seven wins, 17 losses and three draws.
This match was a reversal of the teams’ previous meeting earlier in the season, a high-scoring affair on Dec. 13, 2025, which PSV narrowly won 4-3. Saturday’s encounter proved less fraught for the league leaders.
PSV will look to continue its domestic form when it hosts NEC Nijmegen on March 14. Heracles faces a challenging trip to face AZ Alkmaar on March 15 as it seeks to improve its standing and avoid relegation.
