SEVILLA, Spain (Jan. 24, 2026) (Interstat) — Sevilla opened its La Liga season with a 2-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao on Saturday at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

The match saw a rapid two-goal exchange just before halftime. Substitute Roberto Navarro put the visitors ahead in the 40th minute, but Sevilla’s Peque answered just two minutes later to level the score before the break. Sevilla’s Akor Adams scored the decisive second-half goal to secure the win.

The result defied the pre-match projection from Interstat, which gave Sevilla a 91.6% probability to win but simulated a 1-1 draw. Sevilla begins the campaign with a win, while Athletic Bilbao starts with a loss.
