CROTONE, Italy (Interstat) — Crotone opened its Serie C campaign with a decisive 3-1 victory over Foggia on Sunday at Stadio Ezio Scida.

Federico Romeo gave the hosts an early lead in the fifth minute. The match tightened before a rapid pair of second-half goals sealed the result. Enrico Piovanello scored for Crotone in the 50th minute, and Antonino Musso added another just two minutes later. Foggia managed a lone consolation goal.

The outcome defied a pregame projection from Interstat, whose simulator had forecast a 1-1 draw. Its ELO system, however, gave Crotone an 82 percent probability to win. Crotone begins the season 1-0-0, while Foggia starts 0-1-0.
