BENEVENTO, Italy (Interstat) — Benevento opened its Serie C campaign with a 2-1 road victory over Team Altamura on Sunday.

Playing at Stadio Comunale Tonino d’Angelo, the visitors took the lead in the 37th minute on a goal from Michele Grande. Antonio Prisco doubled Benevento’s advantage in the 56th minute. Altamura found a late consolation goal but could not complete the comeback.

The result defied the pre-match projection from Interstat, whose simulator had forecast a 1-1 draw. Its ELO rating system, however, gave Benevento a 69.10 percent probability to win. With the win, Benevento starts its league season 1-0, while Altamura begins 0-1.
