Scandicci vs Sansepolcro

SCANDICCI, Italy (Interstat) — Two sides seeking a winning formula to close out the holiday break will meet Sunday when Scandicci hosts Sansepolcro in a Serie D fixture.

The match at Stadio Comunale is scheduled for a 2:45 p.m. local (1345 GMT) kickoff on Jan. 4, 2026.

Both clubs enter the new year anchored by draws in their final outings of 2025. Scandicci (2-7-6) settled for a 1-1 home stalemate with Poggibonsi on Dec. 21, while Sansepolcro (2-5-8) earned a 1-1 road draw at Camaiore Calcio the same day.

Recent form suggests a tight, low-scoring affair. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the most likely outcome is a 1-1 draw.

Scandicci’s campaign has been defined by an inability to turn draws into victories. Manager Alessio Bianchi’s squad has recorded a league-high seven draws, including four in its last seven matches. The home side has shown resilience, losing just once in its last five at the Comunale (1-3-1), but converting single points into three has been a persistent issue.

Sansepolcro, managed by Carlo Esposito, travels south mired in a prolonged slump. The visitors have won just once in their last 11 league matches (1-4-6) and possess the division’s weakest attack, having been shut out in half of their 15 games. Their lone victory since October was a 1-0 home result against Foligno on Nov. 16.

A key tactical battle will unfold in midfield, where Scandicci’s tendency to play open, drawn contests clashes with Sansepolcro’s defensive posture and struggle for goals. Scandicci will look to playmakers Francesco Romano and Matteo Costa to unlock a Sansepolcro backline that has conceded multiple goals in eight games this season.

For Sansepolcro, finding any offensive rhythm is paramount. Striker Luca Marchetti, scorer of the team’s goal against Camaiore, will carry the burden of a squad averaging less than a goal per game.

History and simulation point to a share of the spoils. A result other than a draw would provide a crucial momentum shift for either club as the Serie D season moves into its second half.
