Sampdoria vs Palermo
Preview: Sampdoria Hosts Palermo in Serie B Clash
GENOA, Italy (Interstat) — A key Serie B matchup awaits Tuesday as Sampdoria hosts Palermo at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, with the visitors looking to complete a season sweep.
The fixture is a quick turnaround for Palermo, which defeated Milazzo 1-0 in a Serie D contest on Sunday. Sampdoria has not played a competitive match since a 2-1 league win over Spezia on Jan. 17.
Form favors the visiting side. Palermo enters on a strong run, losing just once in its last 11 matches across all competitions. That stretch includes a 3-2 victory over Empoli and a 4-0 win against Messina. Most notably, Palermo secured a 1-0 home win over Sampdoria when the teams last met on Dec. 12.
Sampdoria’s form has been inconsistent. Since that loss to Palermo, the Genoa-based club has posted two wins, two draws and one loss in league play. Its most recent result was a 1-1 home draw with Virtus Entella on Jan. 16.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw for Tuesday’s contest.
The match carries significance for the Serie B promotion race. Both teams will face a congested schedule following Tuesday’s game. Palermo is slated for 10 matches across Serie B and Serie D between Feb. 14 and March 22, beginning with a league fixture against Virtus Entella on Saturday.
Sampdoria’s upcoming schedule is less crowded but features tough opponents, including a trip to Frosinone on March 8 and a home match against Venezia on March 14.
Tuesday’s game is scheduled for a 8:45 p.m. local (1945 GMT) kickoff.
