LEIPZIG, Germany (Interstat) — Marleen Schimmer scored twice in the opening eight minutes to lead RB Leipzig Women to a 3-1 victory over FC Nürnberg Women in a Frauen-Bundesliga match Saturday at Trainingszentrum RB Leipzig Platz 1.

Schimmer’s quick double set the tone for the home side’s dominant start. Delice Boboy added a third for Leipzig in the 43rd minute before Nürnberg’s Emőke Pápai, a substitute, scored a consolation goal just before halftime in the 47th.

The result gave RB Leipzig a winning start to both its Bundesliga campaign and overall season, while Nürnberg began with a loss in each. The final score exceeded the projection of Interstat’s game simulator, which had forecast a 2-1 Leipzig win. Four yellow cards were issued in a physical second half.
