Preview: Wolfsburg Hosts Koeln in Frauen Bundesliga Clash

WOLFSBURG, Germany (Interstat) — The VfL Wolfsburg women will look to maintain their domestic dominance when they host FC Koeln Women in a Frauen Bundesliga match on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026.

The matchup at the AOK Stadion pits a title-contending powerhouse against a mid-table side riding a wave of recent confidence. Wolfsburg enters as the heavy favorite, with Interstat’s game simulator projecting a 4-1 victory for the hosts.

Wolfsburg’s form has been formidable in German league play, despite recent setbacks in European competition. They are coming off a 3-1 home win over Hamburger SV on Dec. 21 and have scored three or more goals in four of their last five Bundesliga fixtures. Their attack has been potent, evidenced by a 6-1 rout of Nurnberg and a 5-2 victory over Manchester United in the Champions League group stage earlier this season.

Koeln, however, arrives with momentum from a 1-0 home victory over SC Freiburg on Jan. 24. That result snapped a two-game losing streak and provided a boost ahead of facing the league giants. Their season has been inconsistent, with a notable 5-1 loss to Bayern Munich but also a resilient 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.

The head-to-head history firmly favors Wolfsburg. In their most recent meeting on Sept. 21, 2025, Wolfsburg secured a 2-1 away victory over Koeln.

Wolfsburg’s schedule intensifies after this match, with a UEFA Women’s Champions League knockout tie against Juventus looming on Feb. 12 and a crucial Bundesliga showdown at Bayern Munich on Feb. 22. This makes securing three points against Koeln imperative.

For Koeln, the fixture begins a challenging stretch. Following Monday’s contest, they face SGS Essen, Bayer Leverkusen and Union Berlin in quick succession.

The game will be a test of Koeln’s improved defensive resolve against one of Europe’s most explosive attacks. Wolfsburg’s depth and home-field advantage make them clear favorites to collect another three points as they pursue another Bundesliga crown.
