Midfielder Riquelme opened the scoring in the ninth minute, and midfielder Johannes Moser added a goal in the 26th minute. Substitute Julian Roider assisted on one of the goals and received a yellow card in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time.

Liefering improved to 9-7-3 in league play and 9-7-4 across all competitions. Young Violets slipped to 7-5-2 in the 2. Liga and 17-16-4 overall.

The result marked the third consecutive loss for Young Violets, who had dropped decisions to FC Red Bull Salzburg on April 22 and April 19. Liefering entered the match off a scoreless draw at Saint Polten on April 19.
