Fatih Karagumruk SK vs Galatasaray

Preview: Galatasaray Visits Fatih Karagumruk in Crucial Süper Lig Clash

ISTANBUL (Interstat) — Galatasaray will look to stabilize its domestic form ahead of a pivotal European showdown when it visits Fatih Karagumruk in the Turkish Süper Lig on Saturday.

The match at Atatürk Olympic Stadium comes just four days before Galatasaray travels to face Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on Jan. 28. That looming encounter adds a layer of complexity to manager Okan Buruk’s selection decisions.

Galatasaray (8-5-3) enters with momentum from a midweek European performance, holding Spanish powerhouse Atlético Madrid to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday. However, its league form has been inconsistent. The Lions followed a 3-0 victory over Kasimpasa on Dec. 21 with consecutive 1-1 draws against Gaziantep FK and, most recently, Atlético.

Fatih Karagumruk (3-6-7), sitting in the lower half of the table, seeks to capitalize on any distracted opponent. The home side is desperate for points after a 2-1 away loss to Istanbul Basaksehir last Saturday extended its winless streak in the league to five matches. Karagumruk’s last victory was a 2-0 result against Konyaspor on Nov. 9.

Recent history heavily favors the visitor. In the teams’ last meeting on Aug. 15, Galatasaray delivered a commanding 3-0 victory. Karagumruk has found goals hard to come against top competition, failing to score in four of its last five matches against current top-six sides.

Galatasaray’s attack, led by the league’s top scorer, has shown potency but also volatility. The team has netted three or more goals four times this season but was also shut out in surprising losses to Kocaelispor and Monaco.

Karagumruk will rely on a disciplined defensive block and seek opportunities on the counter-attack, hoping to exploit a Galatasaray side that may have one eye on England.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the match is projected to end in a 1-1 draw. That result would extend Galatasaray’s recent pattern of league draws but would likely be welcomed by a Karagumruk side in need of a positive result against a giant.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. local time (1600 GMT) on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026.
