Macara Stuns Aucas With Two Stoppage-Time Goals in Liga Pro Season Opener

QUITO, Ecuador (Interstat) — Macara scored twice deep in second-half stoppage time to stun host Aucas 2-0 in a Liga Pro match Saturday at Estadio Gonzalo Pozo Ripalda.

The match appeared destined for a scoreless draw until a flurry of late action. Substitute Gastón Blanc broke the deadlock in the 95th minute. Just two minutes later, fellow substitute Jordán Mohor sealed the victory in the 97th.

Both late goals were assisted by substitutes, with Luis Ayala setting up Blanc and Ángel Ledesma providing for Mohor. The frantic finish included four yellow cards in the final 25 minutes.

The result defied pre-match projections, which heavily favored Aucas. Macara begins its league campaign with a win, while Aucas starts with a loss.
