Fredericia vs Silkeborg IF
FREDERICIA, Denmark (Interstat) — Fredericia continued its unbeaten start to the Danish 1. Division season with a 2-1 comeback victory over struggling Silkeborg IF on Sunday at Monjasa Park.
The result solidified a stark contrast in fortunes between the two clubs. Fredericia, the home side, improved its league record to four wins and one draw, maintaining a strong position at the top of the table. Silkeborg, meanwhile, saw its dismal campaign continue, dropping to just one win against seven losses in the domestic competition.
The match, however, did not follow the dominant script many had anticipated. Pre-game analytics from Interstat heavily favored Fredericia, projecting a 3-0 win and assigning the home side a 95.50 percent probability of victory. Silkeborg, defying those odds, struck first.
Against the run of play, Silkeborg’s Jens Martin Gammelby found the net in the 44th minute, sending the visiting supporters into delirium and threatening an upset just before halftime.
That lead was shockingly short-lived. Fredericia responded almost immediately from the ensuing kickoff. In the first minute of first-half stoppage time, defender Svenn Crone rose to meet a cross and powered a header home, leveling the score at 1-1 and completely shifting the momentum before the break.
The second half saw Fredericia assert more consistent control. The decisive blow came in the 68th minute from midfielder Sofus Johannesen, who completed the turnaround with a well-taken goal to put the hosts ahead 2-1.
Silkeborg, which has now lost seven of its eight league matches, offered little in response after falling behind. The visitors’ frustration was evident early, with Mads Larsen receiving a yellow card in the 8th minute for a reckless challenge.
The victory extends Fredericia’s positive run of form. The club has now taken 10 points from a possible 12 in its last four 1. Division matches, including wins over Vejle BK and Randers FC. Their overall record across all competitions this season now stands at 10 wins, 13 losses and three draws.
For Silkeborg, the defeat marks a seventh consecutive loss across all competitions. The team’s only victory this season remains a 4-2 win over FC Nordsjaelland back in August 2025. Their overall record fell to an identical one win and seven losses.
The result also continued a recent trend in the head-to-head matchup. Fredericia has now defeated Silkeborg in their last two meetings, including a 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture on July 27, 2025.
Fredericia will look to maintain its unbeaten league streak in its next fixture, while Silkeborg faces a urgent task to reverse its fortunes and climb away from the bottom of the 1. Division table.
