BASEL, Switzerland (Interstat) — Basel opened its Super League season with a 3-1 win over Servette on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at St. Jakob-Park, fueled by a hat trick from midfielder Metinho.

Dominik Schmid gave Basel a 1-0 lead just before halftime. Metinho then scored twice in quick succession early in the second half, with both goals assisted by substitutes Houboulang Mendes and Téo Allix. Servette’s Samuel Mráz scored a late consolation goal in the 88th minute.

The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, which simulated a 1-1 draw. Its ELO system, however, gave Basel a 76.1 percent probability to win. Both Allix and Mendes received yellow cards for Servette.
