BERN (Interstat) — Thun opened its Swiss Super League season with a 2-1 upset victory over Young Boys at Stadion Wankdorf on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

The visitors stunned the home side with a late winner. Alvyn Sanches gave Thun a lead in the seventh minute, but Young Boys’ Valmir Matoshi equalized in the 50th. The match appeared headed for a draw until Thun substitute Nils Reichmuth scored the decisive goal in the 80th minute.

The result defied pre-match projections that heavily favored Young Boys. The loss marks a disappointing start to the league campaign for the Bern-based club, while Thun begins with a perfect record. The match featured seven yellow cards, including four for Young Boys.
